Supplemental budget has been submitted..

The latest news that we have regarding final payments from MA Highway is that checks will probably be going out within 3 weeks. A supplemental budget has been submitted.

The MSICA regrets to announce the passing of one of our founding members, Mr. Fred Nava of Kingston, MA. Fred was one of the first members of our Board of Directors and served as our first treasurer. He worked for MA Highway/MA DOT for 40 years and took great pride in his work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

MassDOT has advised President Matthew Frazier that a computer clitch has caused the majority of payments submitted by the Districts to be rejected. We have been informed that the IT issue has been resolved and that all payments willbe re submitted by the District Snow and Ice Engineers today. While this issue is wide spread, we understand that some payments in District 4 did get processed already this week. On an up-note, we have been informed that payment vouchers signed this week (2/25-3/1) do have adequate funding to be paid as well.

Please feel free to contact the MSICA hotline at 888-842-SNOW with any questions/ concerns

Mass DOT has recieved authority to make payments to snow and ice vendors in deficit. Mass DOT has plowed through all of it’s budgeted snow and ice funding and has now turned to deficit spending to make snow and ice contractors, suppliers and other vendors whole after such a snowy January/ February. Matt Frazier has confered with Mass DOT administrators and has been informed that payment vouchers (PV’s) are being processed for payment beginning February 19, 2013.

We would again like to thank Sen. Marc Pacheco and Sen. Bruce Tarr for all of the hard work both Senators devoted to the Deficit Spending Legislation some three years ago. Without this Legislation contractors and suppliers would be waiting for the Governors office to author supplemental budget legislation and the house and senate to approve it. Thank you Mr. Pacheco and Mr. Tarr!

The entire Board of Directors of the MSICA wish to extend a huge thank you to all of the man and women snowfighters who put themselves at risk during the 2013 Blizzard clearing and treating the roads of the Commonwealth. Without your dedication, hard work, and well maintained equipment this clean up would not go forward! Thank you!

During the holiday season, more than ever, our thoughts turn gratefully to those who have made our progress possible. And in this spirit we say, simply but sincerely, thank you and best wishes for the holiday season and a happy and prosperous new year!

The final sign up date of Friday, October 26, 2012 with MA DOT has been extended for all contractors seeking S/R plates from the RMV. It has come to the attention of MA DOT that the RMV is experiencing a shortage of S/R plates at this time. The availability dates of the plates has not been determined, nor has the new deadline been established yet. We will post the new deadline dates as soon as they have been determined.
