Money Troubles Again at DOT?

money-bag-filled-with-moneyAfter looking into rumors of possible financial troubles regarding MA DOT snow and ice payments to its contractors, our President, Matt Frazier, has spoken with officials at both the DOT and the Office of the State Comptroller.  What we have learned is that rangling over how quickly MA DOT snow and ice PV’s are paid led to a slow down of the processing of these payments.  The Comptrollers Office seems to desire that payments be made every 45 days or so, while historically, as long as funds are available, the payments have gone out about every 14 days. While DOT officials have assured our organization that this issue is “worked out” for this winter season, we need to work hard to see to it that Legislation is filed to prevent this in the future.  We will provide our members with updates on this important financial issue as we learn more.
